My two cents: When we climbed The Horn, we were only planing on climbing up Saddleback Jr. and visit the Piazza Rock but when we reached the top, we kept on hiking until we made it to the top of The Horn. It took us about 4.5 hours to get to the top (we made frequent stops to take pictures). From the top we had a breathtaking view over Maine, the mountains around the Horn and Rangeley Lake. This was definitely the best view I've ever had from a mountain. The way down took us about 2.5 - 3 hours. If you plan on hiking all the way up, you should not start later than 12 PM. That's what the sign says at the bottom of the trail. We didn't know so we started later than 12 PM and when we came back down it was almost dark.
